Collage or Not Collage

That is my next question

Time for a new project and I’m going back and forth between a deep dive into digital collage OR an exploration of Zines. Both grabbed my interest lately for similar reasons, but which one takes up the bulk of my work this coming month as far as art is concerned is still a question.

I had considered a deep dive into the workings of my Canon R6, But photography will always be something I do each day, so I don’t want to wrangle that into a project just yet. And I’m still getting my strength and energy back from some mobility issues that came up this last winter, so I don’t want to take on big photo projects full on, just yet. Sitting on the back deck and practicing with the Canon and a couple of lenses is enough for now. With one or two trips to the mountain or some back roads with camera in hand and planning for projects in the fall. Summer, for me is for hanging back and enjoying the sun when it show up here in the PNW. Fall is more of a photo favorite time.

Now back to the July 28Day thing. Really leaning toward the collage idea for a couple of reasons. I want to get better at collages and want to bring in my own content as well as the stash of stuff I have collected over the years. Might also be a way to cull the stuff out that I won’t ever use and get that off of my mind. I sometimes think I am on the brink of being a content hoarder and just want to have a better idea of what I have on hand rather than being put off by the sheer number of files that sit on my storage disks.

Digital collage with the intent to use as much of my stuff as possible and not go collecting new content – at least for this month. And to learn a bit more about the process and art of collage itself. Either analog or digital, there are similar thoughts, processes, techniques and compositions.

Some quick examples of what I’ve done ad-hoc in the past. Wonder how I will change in terms of style, subject and technique in a month’s time?
